Members of the new Free the Children club met this week to discuss plans for the year. They decided on several new and exciting goals.
First – they are moving to the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month and opening their membership to the 3rd grade. (See attached sign up)
Second – they are planning their first school wide campaign – We Are Rafiki – in December. Rafiki is the Swahili word for friend. Mamas in Africa make the rafiki (friendship) bracelets to help raise the money they need to send their kids to school. Members of the Free the Children club will be selling the bracelets in December to help! Let us know if you have a store or event that FTC kids can come to sell.
Free the Children is a movement of over a million empowered children from around the globe seeking to change the world. The group tackles difficult issues of poverty, homelessness, health care, education, and clean water at both local and global levels. Our Free the Children club is a research fellows project of 5th grade Aleenia R.
